The Boat Parade

Last night was the Christmas Boat Parade, Bermuda's largest annual spectator event.

It's the time when Bermuda's boat owners, large and small, private and commercial, decorate their craft with displays of light ranging from the simple to the elaborate and process around Hamilton harbour in an attempt to impress the legions of onlookers and win one of the various prizes on offer. This year my favourite was the castrated cat, apparently entered by the Endsmeet Animal Hospital.

There was originally some concern over the number of entrants in this year's event, with hurricane Fabian having damaged many boats which may otherwise have taken part. But in the end the organisers needn't have worried. Around 50 boats paraded around the harbour, rounded off with a firework display at 8pm.

If only I'd not left my camera at home.

The Boat parade an event made for the cocktail set. God how wonderful for Burrows Lightbourne and Goslings. Beautiful night and thanks little Brian for all those fireworks.Did Excel pay,or did it come out of your private stash? The rude cat was excellent--Dr. Burnie has had this wonderful experience while cutting off the poor puddy's family jewels.Hopefully no new litters are on the way---Pussy Wolf
