Sunday Trading
Following strong sales during the Christmas period, boosted by store openings on the last Sunday before Christmas, the Bermuda Chamber Of Commerce is hoping to persuade the government to allow Sunday shopping year-round.
Since arriving in Bermuda I've rarely missed being able to shop on Sundays, mainly because the stores are few, the choice relatively limited and the prices often high. It's forced us to find something more constructive to do for at least one half of the weekend and we now probably make fewer frivolous purchases than we did in London, tending to just buy the things we really want or need.
That said, the lack of Sunday opening was a problem when we were trying to fit out our new apartment. As I was working during the week, Saturday was the only day Mandy and I had to look for furniture together. Sunday opening might also encourage people to spend more money locally, and would provide locals and tourists alike with something else to do at the weekend, especially useful on rainy afternoons.
It'd be nice if they'd relax the ban on Sunday sales of alcohol at the same time, too.

Good God--as talk to you today from the altar please save these poor, poor sinners that want to bring the Devil's water into your most Holy day of Sunday--I want you brother and sisters to pray for these poor sinners right now!!Raise your hands in the air brother and sisters, feel that presence---can you imagine they want to have their hooch while they shop for their Gucci!
Tell me Lord what is the world comming to? I do not approve of all this buying and selling and sinning on Sunday---We got make a stand--We got to make a plan --against this demon shopping on Sunday!!We have to march against this shopping Sunday thing--You got to stay and pray--come to church and give to God when that big gold plate comes to your hand---That's right god needs your money not Gucci--Amen late us pray!!!
