Scientific Evidence
Ever wondered what you'd see if you compared the way each state voted in the recent US presidential election with the average IQ of the inhabitants of that state?

I'm not buying it Phil.
Can I ask if you have ever spent any significant time with these people you malign so easily?
The north has often been portrayed as somehow superior to the south. This false science trys to lend credence to it.
I am disappointed.

I think this is below you Phil; the election of Bush seems to make people feel free to unleash their sense of superiority and anti-Americanism.
I can only imagine how the shit would hit the fan if anyone posted a comparison of UBP and PLP voter IQs! This type of behavior is inappropriate no matter where its aimed.
Remember how John Kerry sought to generically demonize Bermuda when it supported his aims.
America's a diverse country; like Bermuda. Calling people names - no matter how sophisticated the name calling may be - doesn't help understand, moderate, and move forward.
A little respect!

Personally, I believe that IQ tests primarily measure how good you are at doing IQ tests, rather than being a reliable indicator of intelligence.
I published this primarily because I found it funny, not because I was trying to demean Bush voters. But if the cap fits...

It's a hoax.

Dear Limey,
I have enjoyed reading your site in order to keep up with politics at home while I am studying. The site is often very informative and I usually am very appreciative of your posts. Lately however, your negative posts regarding the US and it's government are really disappointing.
I know you disagree with a lot of US policy and leadership (I don't necessarily agree with those things either) however, what other country can even hold a candle to the aid that the US gives to much of the world... not to mention boosting the economy that we all enjoy at home so much in Bermuda.
Maybe instead of being so demeaning you should look at this from another angle. We often accuse the US of sticking it's nose in everyone elses business. Are we being hypocritical when we look down our noses at its citizens and judge their decisions when it comes to politics? Just a thought...

A group of statistics students at the university I attend researched this IQ comparison for a class project this week. It is a hoax.
I am an American and I did vote for Kerry. I am tired of slander. Our country is very divided right now. I do not find that fact funny. Though I dislike Bush's political agenda I am not going to participate in calling Bush supporters ignorant or stupid. That is an ignorant and narrow minded statement as is the IQ hoax.

Glad to see that the I.Q. in NH is some what above the average! Must have been raised since I moved here! Sorry to say that I can't vote 'cos I'm not a citizen. I live here now and deal with what I have too. My choice. Get's me mad though!

Lets put this matter to rest. Which states have the highest level of illiteracy? How about overt racism? Anyone want to guess which have the highest poverty level, and what about illegitimacy, school drop-outs, deliquency, youth and adult underachievers, etc. etc. etc. Does anyone remember the last state to reverse the Jim Crow Law was dead last in all of the social statistics listed above. Lets face it people, the southern states (aka Bible Belt states) would rather turn the clock back to 1820 when wealth and profiting through slave labor was a hell of a lot easier than economic prosperity for all. How could anyone with a brain vote for a president that feels that Jesus told him to start a war.
Sounds very similar to the reason why slavery was justified because Ham was 'accursed' by God (Jesus) and was to serve his brothers forever. Old habits die hard

Only the sources are a hoax. The data might be accurate. There is US census data showing average income and education that matches up perfectly with that IQ chart, with regards to which start voted for whom. And it is well known that income and education correlate with IQ.
