How To Bypass The Media

This story in the Christian Science Monitor ought to be required reading for every PLP politician.

Titled ‘More politicians write blogs to bypass mainstream media’, it describes how a growing number of politicians are using the web to get out their own message “unvarnished and unedited”.

…in San Francisco, Supervisor Chris Daly has begun a blog to counter what he feels is biased reporting in the local paper.

“I've not done well in the newspaper coverage,” says Mr. Daly. “The Internet is a way to get my message out to people who are wired.”

Most readers of this site seem to feel that the Government is treated fairly by the Island's media, although I'm sure a more scientific poll would show different results. Nonetheless, there are clearly ways for the Government to bypass the mainstream media if they so choose. Instead of spending their time complaining (as Government Senate Leader Larry Mussenden did again in the Senate on Thursday), perhaps they should do something about it.
