Letter to the editor of the Mid Ocean News:
I would very much like to congratulate Alvin Williams on his terrific Commentary piece in last weekend's paper (Mid Ocean News, March 18). Does he have an email address? If so, perhaps he would be kind enough to let you add it to the others listed in your "Contact Us" section on the Mid-Ocean News web site.
DR. EWART F. BROWN
Smith's Parish
Dr. Brown has obviously recognised Mr. Williams' talent for distortion and misrepresentation and wants to offer him a job in Cabinet.

Obviously, Dr. Brown and Mr. Williams need to be a little more open-minded on the Ashay subject. I admire your views and your being open to listen to other peoples opinions, while these two gentlemen remain small-minded Bermudians.

Presumably we are getting close to an election?
Cheap electioneering me thinks!

Alvins reference to the Jews and reparations is an interesting one.
Given the following, maybe Alvin should start with the Jews in his attempt to right the wrong?
"Lee M. Friedman, past president of the American Jewish Historical Society, wrote that in Brazil, where most captive Africans went, "the bulk of the slave trade was in the hands of Jewish settlers." Marcus Arkin wrote that the Jews of Surinam used "many thousands" of Black slaves. Herbert I. Bloom wrote that "the slave trade was one of the most important Jewish activities here (in Surinam) as elsewhere in the colonies." Cecil Roth, writer of 30 books and hundreds of articles on Jewish history, wrote that the slave revolts in that region "were largely directed against [Jews] as being the greatest slave-holders of the region."
