They Work For You
When I first saw this site I thought how great it would be if Bermuda had something similar.
But then I wondered: how much difference would it really make to the way people vote?
Thanks to Sam for the link.

A search for Bermuda on this site shows that Bermuda has requested not to be included as an overseas territory of the UK under the new EU constitution.
"Although listed as an OCT in the Annex, Bermuda has been excluded from successive Association instruments at its own request."
When did this happen and why? What are the +/- implications?

Tihger Bay,
This decision refers to the EU OCT Decision which was first drawn up in 1991 - so no blaming the PLP for this one! It is to do with the EU recognition of Overseas Territories as it pertains to economic development and aid and perhaps Bermuda did not (and does not) want to be recognized as being in need of any of this from the EU. Or maybe Bermuda did not qualify for any aid?

May be there's more to it than the simplistic explanation I have given and someone else can add to it?

well the EU constitution is far from being inplemented. one Frace is turning more anti-europien constitution and even the dutch are turning against it (the Neatherlands being one of the core founding members of the EU).

The EU OCT decision has nothing to do with the EU Constitution. The EU functions on many levels and the Constitution is just one aspect. Even if all EU countries reject the Constitution, the EU will still exist and function much as it does now.

Were we told that UK funded clean up efforts in Carribean?
"The hon. Gentleman makes a particularly interesting point that I will consider after this session of questions. I should provide him with the reassurance that colleagues in government have sent a prison adviser to Grenada and provided £30,000 worth of support to enable the prison to be repaired. In addition, we have provided funding to enable the Royal Bermuda regiment to help with relief and reconstruction efforts on the Cayman Islands. Its presence will also help with law and order issues."
This is a great site!

A great site...I learned a lot about my last MP.
To answer Limey's question, NO - I don't think it would make a difference to the way people vote. Something similar here might add a touch of transparency, however, and that is really needed especially of late.

No comments on UK funding our regiment in Cayman!
