Streaming the House

Those wanting to listen to today’s session of the House of Assembly can now do so over the internet thanks to a service provided by Bermudian Douglas DeCouto.

Doug is capturing the coverage of the House of Assembly transmitted on AM 1230 radio and streaming it (almost) live on the web. Previous sessions of the House are also available for download, and there’s even a podcast feed.

To try it out, go to http://bermuda.lcs.mit.edu/hp.

» It seems that Christian Dunleavy also had a hand in the production of this.

Sounds pretty cool, actually. Now if only we could get local newscasts and press releases on the internet.

Sweet Dougie - nice work!

Now I better warn my I.T. guys about the bandwidth getting squeezed!!!

No thanks....verbal runs are not needed!

Listening to this may cause user to fall asleep at work... zzzz zzzz zzzz

Brilliant! Good work Doug. Just suprised you two have so much free time at the office....

Much appreciated! Thanks!

This is really great! It would be great to get proper Hansard-style transcripts of Parliament. The existing ones (see Politics.bm posting today) go into great detail on the congrats and obits - and then provide absolutely no detail at all of the actual debate on substantive issues.

Why does Bermuda not provide verbatim transcripts of Parliament?

.. and please, can we ban the phrase "testicular fortitude" from the House? Every session! Where did this come from? It's so lame.
